Slugs
Slugs and snails are not insects- they are more closely related to the octopus and are classified as mollusks. They feed on a variety of plants and prefer tender leafed plants. The damage slugs and snails make are characterized by the slime trails that they leave behind. Also, since their mouthparts are rasplike, they make holes in the middle of the leaf, whereas, caterpillars and other chewing insects start eating on the leaf's edge. Appalachian Niche offers control of snails and slugs.
